Do I have your attention?!
The word “chocolate” to me is like “walk” to a dog. My ears perk up, my mouth starts to droll, and I get warm fuzzies inside. does this happen to anyone else or should I see my doctor about this? I absolutely LOVE chocolate! Maybe that is even an understatement.
In 1904, John Mavrakos, a Greek immigrant, used his treasured family recipes to open a candy and ice cream shop in St. Louis, MO. The company quickly grew to 16 stores, a catalog, and a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. “In 1959, John Mavrakos won the Candy Industry Copper Kettle award, which is considered the "highest recognition an individual working within the U.S. confectionery industry can attain" according to Candy Industry Magazine.” In 1984, the company was sold to Archibald Candy but the original leather-bond recipe book was passed to Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Company owner, Dan Able. Dan studied these recipes and year later, after much thought, his family re-opened Mavrakos and brought back many loved favorites.

Do you look like this now? I do…and to make it worse I know what they taste like. TALK ABOUT THE DROOL!
Mavrakos sent me a glorious box of assorted chocolates. Now I know I am watching my weight, but I had to eat these…for research purposes you know! They arrived in the mail, they got in the house, and within seconds they were opened, and going in my mouth. YUM! The chocolate was soooo smooth!! Within 2 days I had tried bon bon creams, caramels, pecan burrs, cherry cordials, almond toffees, glace apricots, coconut crescents and a solid chocolates. Notice they all have an S…that is because I didn’t share…ok…I gave my husband 2 or 3 of them…but I practically ate the whole box myself. Am I a pig, a chocoholic, or both? Well no matter the answer, I didn’t share because they were too delicious to share!
My ABSOLUTE favorites were the lemon bon bons and the almond toffee! Ummm…just thinking about them puts me in a euphoric state.
Are you dying to know what they taste like? Well….
Today, Mavrakos is giving one of you…
